Parents Newsletter 28th February 2022
CBS Primary Tralee
Dear Parents
I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable mid-term break.
During the break, the Government issued its latest guidelines regarding Covid-19 and we will begin to implement the new guidelines from today but, at the same time, we will take some time to unwind the measures we had to put in place over the last two years. Please remember, our simplest request for the last two years was – sick staff and children are requested to stay home – as we move forward over the next weeks and months, we would ask you to continue to follow this guideline.
Thanks again for all your support
Denis Coleman, Principal
Summary of new guidelines
Mask Wearing
From today, staff and children from 3rd – 6th Class are no longer required to wear face masks. However, if members of staff or students wish to continue wearing face masks or coverings, they may do so.
Staying at home if you have symptoms
The requirement to stay at home if you have symptoms remains – for students and staff alike
Hand Hygiene
Continued use of good infection prevention and control measures such as hand washing, respiratory hygiene, and ventilation is advised.
School transport and Face coverings/mask wearing
The wearing of face masks on school transport will no longer be mandatory but will continue to be advised.
Bubbles / Pods
Schools are no longer required to maintain class pods and bubbles. This will facilitate a return to team teaching, sports, singing and music and inter schools activities.
Visitors to schools
There is no longer a requirement to restrict visitors to schools and schools should revert to the normal arrangements for visitors
Antigen testing arrangements for children in primary schools and special classes
As part of the transition arrangements the HSE will continue with the current processes to support the provision of antigen tests to primary schools. The Antigen Free phone number is: 1800 110055 or parents may order antigen tests online via www.hse.ie/schooltest.
Children who are well should continue to come to school whether they participate in antigen testing or not.
