Dear Parents
What a great week !!
This week, on Monday, we welcomed back the boys and girls and the staff from 3rd – 6th classes. It was fantastic to have the whole school back for the first time in a long, long time. Everyone has settled in and thankfully, the children and staff are back in a routine again and back where they all want to be.
School is now open – let’s all work together to keep it open !!
We have worked very hard in the school to make sure all our policies and procedures are up to date in line with guidelines we received from the Department of Education and from Public Health. The children and staff are very clear on how to make sure we keep each other safe, how important it is to stay in our own ‘Bubbles’ / class groupings and how important it is to let teacher know if they are feeling unwell.
For you their parents, you must continue to keep up the amazing work you did during the 4 months we were all in school before Christmas. At the risk of boring you, we can’t emphasise enough the importance of keeping sick children at home – “if in doubt, keep them out”.
Please remember, we have been looking forward to the schools being opened again for quite a while, the last thing anyone wants is for them to close again.
Our staff, our pupils and their families have to continue to limit our contacts and follow the guidelines when the children and staff are not in school – we all know the risks and we all know what we must do to make sure our children can keep going to school.
Drop Off and Pick Up Times
We are asking that you will work with us to make sure it is safe for everyone at the school gate. In the morning, if at all possible, drop and go – the children are fine once they come in the gate because they are in their lines in the yard and we have lots of staff to supervise. At home-time, please try to avoid meeting up in groups, please wear a mask and please head away as soon as you collect your child. So far parents have been fantastic at the school gate – let’s keep this going for the next week.
School Inspection for COVID-19
On Tuesday last, we had a special visitor to the school from the Department of Education. Our Inspector / Cigire carried out a special inspection on how our school is implementing the COVID-19 guidelines for schools. After a very thorough examination of our policies and procedures, she was able to state that our school is fully compliant with all of the guidelines and had no concerns regarding our school approach to battling the virus. Well done to staff parents and children for all you are doing.
Easter Eggs and Easter Hampers
Our Parents’ Council have been busy putting together lots of delicious prizes for our Easter raffle.
From Monday next, and for a few days after, the children will be able to bring in their €2 – no tickets will be given out but their names will be put into the draw. We will pick out the winners on Thursday and the children can take home their prizes that day.
We hope that you will all be able to support our raffle as the money will be used to help with a number of activities by our Parents’ Council in the final term.
Dates to Remember:
School Closes for Easter Holidays: Friday 26th March at 12.00
School reopens after Easter Holidays: Monday April 12th
Thank you again for all your support
