Dear Parents
The last week has been particularly difficult for a number of families and a number of staff in our school due to Covid-19. More and more children have been at home and this has caused a huge inconvenience for all of us but especially for the parents.
From Monday 27th September, all schools will move to a new phase of dealing with Covid-19 in the school. The emphasis will now move to families and family settings dealing with Covid and contact-tracing will no longer apply to schools.
What stays the same ??
- All parents should monitor their children’s health. It is particularly important to be alert for the symptoms of Covid-19.
- If a child complains of feeling unwell or presents with symptoms of Covid-19 in school, the child will be brought to the Isolation Room, parents will be contacted, and we will ask parents to keep the child at home until they are symptom-free for 48 hours.
- Any child with symptoms must self-isolate, should not attend school and parents should contact their GP for advice regarding a Covid-19 test or attend a walk-in test centre.
- Children identified as a household close contact by the HSE will have to restrict movements and will need to get a Covid-19 test.
- Our school will continue to implement strict guidelines to prevent spread of the virus in our school between now and mid-term break at the end of October. We will review our procedures before mid-term break.
New Guidelines:
- No more contact tracing in schools for close contacts with no symptoms, except for children attending special classes.
- Automatic testing of close contacts in school will no longer take place.
- Children identified as a close contact in a school setting will no longer need to restrict their movements, if they have no symptoms.
As always, if you are unsure of anything in relation to your child attending school, please get in touch. We are more than happy to assist you and your child in any way we can.
