We are delighted to be taking part in the Active Flag this year. We will be doing lots of different physical education activities which will include sports, games, dance, gymnastics, outdoor challenges and many more! It will be a great way of keeping us fit and healthy! You can read more about the Active Flag on the following website. http://www.activeschoolflag.ie
We are very busily involved in lots of fun filled and sporty activities at this stage of the year. See below for details......
Giles O Grady has completed his sessions with 6th, 5th & 4th class and is working with the junior classes.Everyone is encouraged to join a Gaelic Club in Tralee.
David O Dea is back, he has been working with 2nd, 4th and 1st classes on their hurling skills. and details can be seen on their blog.
Ray Gadson IRFU Coach put the 6th class children through their rucks and mauls for the past number of weeks... we're working on having a representative on the Irish 6 Nations team in the future. Many of the children who have not played before are really getting into Rugby and have great praise for Ray.
We have exciting news! The school is going to seek Active Flag Status. This means we have to have a real focus on PE, Physical Activity & Sports in the school for the coming months and also out into the future. As part of the Active Flag process we need to review areas we feel need attention and make some improvements as a result. Teachers and children will work together on these and we should see some great enhancements to our already sucessful & exciting PE programme. Everyone will be involved and we will get out Mums & dads focussed in on this also!
Swimming is recommencing again in January. Children from senior infants, 2nd, 4th and 6th class will go swimming this year.
Congratulations to our hurlers who did us proud in the recent mini 7's school blitz in Abbeydorney. Our recent CBS Hoops basketball; tournmanet was a huge sucess with 8 other schools taking part. We will have Active Schools week from April 20-24th and have a huge range of activities lined up including Aerobics, Soccer, hurling matches, running activities, healthy eating, parents walk etc etc. Details of these will be on our face book page.
